The incident occurred in the Hosenpur area while the family was preparing for "Sehri," the pre-dawn meal before fasting. The victims have been identified as 36-year-old Mahmudul Hasan, his 30-year-old wife Khadija Akhter, and another relative, 40-year-old Shiuly Akhter. Due to the critical nature of their injuries, all three were rushed to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka for advanced treatment.

According to family members and local witnesses, the blast occurred the moment someone attempted to light the kitchen stove. It is believed that a leak in the gas line had caused the room to fill with gas overnight. As soon as the stove was ignited, the accumulated gas triggered a powerful explosion followed by a sudden fire. Neighbors who heard the loud bang rushed to the scene to rescue the victims and initially took them to the Kochua Upazila Health Complex. However, doctors there recommended an immediate transfer to Dhaka as the victims had sustained extensive burns.

The victims arrived at the emergency department of the National Burn Institute around 8:30 AM, where they were admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU). Local police from Kochua station confirmed that a preliminary investigation points toward a gas line leakage as the primary cause of the accident. Authorities have urged residents to be extra cautious and ensure proper ventilation in kitchens before lighting stoves, especially during the month of Ramadan when cooking activities increase during late-night hours.
