Illegal Arms Factory Busted at BNP Leader's Brick Kiln in Sandwip; 2 Arrested
The detainees have been identified as the manager, Md. Rashed (40), and a local resident, Md. Akbar (43). According to Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, a media officer for the Coast Guard, the raid was part of "Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2." One locally-made gun, two rounds of live ammunition, and extensive machinery for manufacturing firearms were seized during the operation.
Security officials stated that the suspects were allegedly supplying weapons to facilitate subversive activities ahead of the upcoming elections. The brick kiln is reportedly owned by Bahadur, the President of Aman Ullah Union BNP. However, Upazila BNP leaders have dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, claiming Bahadur had no knowledge of these activities. Sandwip police confirmed that a case has been filed and an investigation is currently underway to identify all involved parties.
