Acting on information from local residents who noticed no activity from the house throughout the morning, police and the CID Crime Scene Unit arrived at Building No. 3 in the camp’s B-Block around 1:00 PM. Upon breaking into the locked room, they found the bodies and immediately began collecting forensic evidence.

Preliminary investigations and statements from neighbors suggest that the family was under severe emotional distress due to mounting financial debt. Masum, a rickshaw puller, and Sumi, a domestic worker, had reportedly borrowed money from various local cooperatives and societies. Neighbors noted that debt collectors frequently visited their home, leading to a state of constant harassment and desperation.

Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Alamgir Jahan stated that the evidence suggests a possible murder-suicide. It is suspected that the couple killed their two children before taking their own lives sometime between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM today. However, the police are awaiting the formal autopsy report from Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital to confirm whether the deaths were caused by poisoning or strangulation.

The news of the mass death has caused a significant stir in the densely populated Bihari Camp, with hundreds gathering at the scene as authorities prepared to move the bodies to the morgue. Police have started recording statements from relatives and neighbors to verify the financial claims and investigate if any external pressure played a role in this tragedy.
