Printing Press Owner Arrested in Lakshmipur with Counterfeit Election Seals

The operation took place on Tuesday (February 3) afternoon at "Mariyam Printers" on Old Court Road in the district town. During the raid, law enforcement officials also confiscated a computer and a mobile phone used in the process. Sohel, the owner of the press and a resident of Tumchar Union, was taken into custody on the spot.

While Sohel admitted to manufacturing the seals upon receiving an order, he refrained from disclosing the identity of the person who commissioned them. However, reliable sources suggest that an individual associated with Jamaat-e-Islami politics from Ward 4 of the municipality may have placed the order. Executive Magistrate Hasan Mahmud Nahid, who visited the scene, declared the private production of election seals illegal and confirmed that a regular case would be filed. Additional Superintendent of Police Hossain Mohammad Raihan Kazemi stated that an investigation is underway to identify and arrest others involved in this fraudulent activity.
