Jailed AL Activist Arif Granted Parole to Attend Mother’s Funeral in Narayanganj
Following a request from his family, the District Magistrate allowed his temporary release from Narayanganj Jail, enabling him to pay his last respects at his residence in the Kotalerbagh area.
The request for parole followed the death of his mother, Amena Begum, who passed away on Monday morning at a local hospital. Under strict security, Arif was brought to his family home to participate in the Janaza (funeral prayer) and the subsequent burial process.
According to local police, Arif had been in prison for the past two months in connection with a case involving attacks during the anti-discrimination student movement. Immediately after the burial rites were completed, he was escorted back to jail by the authorities.
