At least 20 people were injured, and several motorcycles and private properties were vandalized during the unrest. Authorities have deployed additional police forces to the scene to maintain order.

According to local reports, the conflict began when supporters of BNP candidate Hasan Rajib Pradhan and Jamaat candidate Anwarul Islam Raju encountered each other. Deputy Commissioner H.M. Rakib Haider confirmed that the initial scuffle was triggered by offensive remarks targeting the female Jamaat activists regarding their hijabs. As news of the insult spread, male members from both parties engaged in a series of chases and counter-chases. A distressed female Jamaat worker stated that while campaigning is a democratic right, the verbal assault on their religious attire was an unprovoked provocation that turned the peaceful atmosphere violent.

Superintendent of Police Md. Asaduzzaman described the incident as a breach of electoral peace, noting that such an event is unprecedented in the district. He assured the public that a neutral and thorough investigation is underway to prosecute those who incited the violence. The injured are currently receiving treatment at local hospitals. The Deputy Commissioner has vowed to take the strictest legal action possible against the perpetrators, emphasizing that the administration remains on high alert to prevent further political instability ahead of the polls.
