As a result, his candidacy remains valid for the upcoming 12th National Parliamentary Election.

On Saturday (January 17), the Appellate Commission, led by the Chief Election Commissioner, issued the order following a formal hearing. The challenge had been filed by the Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF) candidate, Md. Badsha Mia, who sought to scrap Babul's nomination. After reviewing the arguments, the Commission rejected Badsha Mia’s petition and upheld the Returning Officer’s original decision.

During the hearing, Rokon Uddin Babul was represented by Barrister Mazedul Islam Patwary Ujjal, a prominent member of the Lalmonirhat District BNP, and Advocate Rashedul Islam Limon lawyer of the Supreme Court. With this ruling, there are no longer any legal hurdles preventing Babul from contesting the election.
