Parliament Passes ‘Dhaka Central University Bill

Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milan moved the bill during Friday's afternoon session (April 10, 2026), which was passed by a voice vote.

Under this new legislation, Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, and five other major institutions will operate as "Affiliated Colleges" of Dhaka Central University. While these colleges will maintain their distinct identities and assets, their academic activities, including exams and evaluations, will follow a unified schedule set by the university.

The President of Bangladesh will serve as the Chancellor, appointing the Vice-Chancellor from a Senate-nominated panel. The bill ensures a full administrative structure with a Senate, Syndicate, and Academic Council to oversee high academic standards.
