UGC Chairman Professor S.M.A. Faiz Resigns Citing Health Issues

In his application, Professor Faiz mentioned that since joining the commission on September 5, 2024, he has been performing his duties; however, his current health condition prevents him from continuing in this high-profile role. He requested the ministry to take the necessary steps regarding his departure based on his medical circumstances.

Professor S.M.A. Faiz is a distinguished academic who previously served as the 26th Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University and as the former Chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC). A former professor in the Department of Soil, Water, and Environment at Dhaka University, he was appointed to the UGC chair just last year. Throughout his illustrious career, he has held several key administrative positions under various administrations, marking a significant contribution to the country's education and public service sectors.
