According to Clause 5 (ঙ) of the new policy, no re-admission fees can be charged from enrolled students. However, private institutions such as schools, school and college combinations, higher secondary colleges, and degree colleges at the higher secondary level may collect tuition fees as per the Tuition Fee Policy-2024.

Although the policy was finalized on February 9, it was recently published by the Ministry of Education’s Secondary and Higher Education Division.

The policy follows a writ petition filed by Ali Asgar Imon, executive director of a private organization, on January 25 in the relevant branch of the High Court. The petition highlighted that re-admission fees have long been considered the most “silent and oppressive form of exploitation” in the education system.

With the government’s policy now in place, re-admission fees are prohibited, and the petitioner has confirmed they will not pursue the writ further.
