Supreme Court Suspends High Court Order to Close Schools During Ramadan
On Monday (February 16), Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division, Justice Farah Mahbub, issued the order.
During the hearing, Additional Attorney General Barrister Anik Ar Hock represented the state, assisted by Assistant Attorney General Maria Tanzima.
Previously, on Sunday (February 15), the High Court bench of Justice Fahmida and Justice Mohammad Asif Hasan had directed the closure of schools during Ramadan. The petitioners' lawyers, Mohammad Elias Ali Mondol and Advocate Tanzina Babi Liza, had filed the writ in this regard.
Earlier, on January 5, Supreme Court lawyer Mohammad Elias Ali Mondol had issued a legal notice to the government, urging it to close schools during the holy month of Ramadan.
