Despite emerging as the single largest party with 108 seats, Thalapathy Vijay’s 'Tamizhaga Vettri Kazhagam' (TVK) is still short of the 118-seat majority mark. On Thursday, Vijay met with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar in Chennai for the second time. However, the Governor has reportedly insisted on a formal list containing the physical signatures of 118 MLAs before initiating the swearing-in ceremony.

The Raj Bhavan emphasizes that written proof of support is essential to ensure a stable government that won't collapse prematurely. While the current assembly’s term expires on May 9, the Governor has assured Vijay that he will not invite any other party to form the government for now. Meanwhile, political rivals DMK and AIADMK are reportedly exploring unconventional strategies to prevent TVK from coming to power. With the support of 5 Congress MLAs already in his pocket, all eyes are now on Vijay to see if he can secure the remaining signatures and claim the leadership of Tamil Nadu.
