According to reports from the Times of India and local media outlets, fierce clashes and incidents of arson have been reported between supporters of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in several districts, including Howrah, Birbhum, and Kolkata. Both political parties have traded accusations, with the BJP alleging that two of its workers were beaten to death by TMC supporters in Howrah and Rajarhat. Conversely, the TMC has claimed that two of its members were killed at the hands of BJP workers in Birbhum and Beleghata.

The unrest has also seen several TMC offices in industrial belts like Asansol vandalized and set on fire, though BJP legislators have denied involvement, attributing the acts to "miscreants." In response to the deteriorating situation, India’s Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, has issued strict directives to the local administration and police to arrest those involved in the violence immediately. Central forces have been placed on high alert across the state to maintain peace and prevent further escalation. Amidst this atmosphere of tension, the BJP has begun preparations for government formation, appointing Amit Shah as the central observer to oversee the selection of the Chief Minister and the parliamentary party leader.
