Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a stern warning to the U.S. and its allies, asserting that the "evil influence" and dominance of Western powers in the region are nearing an end.

In a social media post, Ghalibaf accused the U.S. of severely endangering international maritime security and energy transport by violating ceasefires and imposing what he termed an "illegal naval blockade."

A New Strategic Equation Ghalibaf highlighted that a new political and military equation is currently forming in the Strait of Hormuz. He claimed that maintaining the current status quo is becoming "unbearable and exhausting" for Washington. In a particularly cryptic and high-stakes statement, the Speaker remarked, "We haven’t even started our work yet, and they are already overwhelmed."

These comments come in direct response to the stringent naval blockade imposed by the U.S. on Iranian ports since April 13, 2026.

Trump Announces 'Project Freedom' Adding fuel to the fire, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a new naval mission titled "Project Freedom." The primary objective of this mission is to challenge Iran’s effective control over the strategic waterway and keep the Strait of Hormuz open through American military might. Under Trump’s plan, powerful U.S. warships will now provide direct armed escorts for commercial vessels traversing the passage.

Rising Risk of Global Conflict Tehran views Washington’s direct intervention as an extreme risk to regional stability. Speaker Ghalibaf warned that Trump’s move is pushing the Middle East toward a much larger-scale confrontation. Despite the external pressure, Iran has signaled that it remains firm in its position and will not loosen its grip on the Strait.

With both nations reinforcing their military presence, the world's most vital energy artery is rapidly transforming into a global battleground.
