Russia Slams US-Israeli Strikes on Iran as 'Flagrant and Unprecedented' Act

Speaking to the RIA news agency, Russian Special Envoy Andrei Belousov stated that bypassing the UN Security Council to conduct such strikes sets a dangerous precedent in international relations. He highlighted the irony of a nuclear-armed state collaborating with a nation that openly ignores the NPT to strike a sovereign country.

Belousov warned that targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities has severely undermined the authority of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the broader framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He confirmed that the Russian delegation plans to formally raise this issue at the NPT Review Conference starting this Monday in New York. According to the envoy, the strikes not only threaten global stability but also violate Iran's "inalienable right" to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, potentially triggering a collapse in international diplomatic cooperation.
