According to the Iranian news agency Mehr News on Sunday, Araghchi will arrive in Islamabad following his brief visit to Oman. From Pakistan, his next diplomatic destination is expected to be Russia. Although he arrived in Pakistan with a high-level delegation last Friday, he departed for Oman on Saturday; however, sources suggest he will land back in Islamabad by Sunday evening, April 26, 2026.

During his previous stop, Araghchi held detailed discussions with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other top officials. Pakistan has been playing a pivotal role as a mediator, attempting to create a platform for dialogue between Washington and Tehran. However, diplomatic sources indicate that a significant breakthrough remains elusive. Tehran has characterized U.S. demands as "excessive," while the United States reportedly found Iran's proposals unacceptable. Araghchi’s return to Islamabad signals a continued effort to find a new diplomatic equation through Pakistani mediation.

Members of the delegation who accompanied Araghchi during his first visit have already returned to Iran to consult with government policymakers. It is expected that they may rejoin the Foreign Minister in Islamabad for this second round of talks. While the possibility of a direct meeting between U.S. and Iranian officials currently remains low, the Pakistani government has not given up its mediation efforts. According to reports from Mehr News and Al Jazeera, this second visit is highly significant for regional stability and serves as a crucial precursor to Araghchi’s upcoming trip to Moscow.
