Trump Shares Photo of Suspected Shooter on Truth Social Following WHCD Attack
As President Donald Trump was addressing the audience from the stage, gunshots erupted outside the ballroom, sparking widespread panic. An assailant, armed with multiple firearms, attempted to breach the security perimeter of the crowded event. However, rapid intervention by the police and Secret Service brought the situation under control, averting a potential catastrophe. Law enforcement has identified the attacker as Cole Thomas Allen, a 31-year-old resident of California.
Interim Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, Jeffrey Carroll, stated that preliminary information suggests the suspect was a registered guest at the hotel. He reportedly launched a sudden attack at a security checkpoint near the venue while carrying several firearms. Upon hearing the gunfire, Secret Service agents followed protocol and immediately rushed President Trump to a secure location. The administration has confirmed that the President and his cabinet members are completely unharmed. However, one U.S. Secret Service agent sustained serious injuries during the confrontation with the gunman; while his bulletproof vest absorbed part of the impact, he is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Veteran CNN journalist Wolf Blitzer, who was present at the scene, recounted seeing the gunman firing from just a few feet away. Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Pirro, announced that Cole Thomas Allen will face severe charges, including the use of a firearm during a violent crime and assaulting a federal officer. Following the incident, President Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to post a photograph of the suspect. The Washington Police and the FBI are currently conducting a joint investigation to determine the motive behind the attack.
