Mamdani Denounces Shooting at Trump’s Event as "Political Violence"
According to a report by CNN, the Mayor described the heinous act as "political violence" and offered a sharp critique of the event. Mayor Mamdani explicitly stated that there is no place for political violence in a democratic process, calling it a major threat to both society and the political landscape.
Immediately following the incident, Mayor Mamdani posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), asserting that political violence is completely unacceptable and cannot be supported under any circumstances. He added that he was greatly relieved and pleased that President Donald Trump and all the guests attending the White House Correspondents' Dinner were safe. It is noteworthy that despite differences in political ideology, the New York City Mayor has previously met with President Trump in several formal meetings.
Meanwhile, amid rumors regarding a potential international connection to the shooting, President Trump himself clarified the situation. He stated that Iran had no involvement in the incident. Following the events at the Washington Hilton Hotel, the Secret Service has further tightened security protocols. Analysts view Mayor Mamdani’s reaction as a significant stance against the internal instability currently marking American politics.
