In an exclusive interview with the Iranian media outlet Shargh, Iravani clarified that as a prerequisite for any dialogue, Washington must cease its current hostile behavior and refrain from actions that violate the ceasefire. He emphasized that the burden is on the U.S. to demonstrate a genuine shift in policy before any formal communication can be restored.

The Ambassador indicated that if the United States responds positively and initiates the process of withdrawing sanctions, the next high-level meeting could potentially take place in Islamabad, Pakistan. Such a summit is seen as a strong possibility for breaking the long-standing diplomatic deadlock between the two nations. However, Iravani was firm in stating that Iran would not compromise on its national interests or sovereign rights during any potential negotiations.

Reiterating Iran’s defensive posture, Iravani stated that while Tehran has no intention of initiating military aggression and consistently favors political solutions, it is fully prepared for any escalation should the path of war be chosen by others. He noted that Iran maintains its defense readiness and is capable of meeting any challenge in the current complex Middle East environment. This significant commentary follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire while simultaneously maintaining a strict naval blockade on Iran—a move Tehran continues to view as an act of hostility inconsistent with the standards of international maritime law upheld by NATO-member states and other global powers.
