In a statement released on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, the IRGC asserted that despite the extension, its forces remain at the highest level of readiness to retaliate against any "threat or new aggression." The Guard warned that they are prepared to launch "destructive strikes" beyond the enemy's imagination against any remaining hostile capabilities if provoked.

The IRGC statement emphasized that the force is determined to continue its resistance with "maximum resolve" and is capable of delivering a swift, certain, and immediate response to any provocative behavior. Simultaneously, Mahdi Mohammadi, an advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker, dismissed President Donald Trump’s ceasefire extension as "meaningless." Commenting on social media, Mohammadi stated that a "defeated party" cannot impose conditions on the victor, further straining the fragile diplomatic atmosphere.

According to Mohammadi, the ongoing naval blockade imposed by the U.S. is "no different from active bombardment" and should be met with a military response. He argued that Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire is merely a deceptive tactic to buy time for preparing a sudden military assault. This reaction comes after President Trump’s declaration that the U.S. military would withhold strikes only as long as Iranian leaders provide a formal proposal, while maintaining a strict naval blockade on all Iranian ports. Tehran has flatly rejected this position, signaling its intent to take counter-measures against what it perceives as an act of war.
