The suspect, identified as Aman Tiwari, a resident of Araria village, was apprehended last Wednesday following a coordinated investigation. Police have sealed his residence and seized several electronic devices, including his laptop, for forensic examination. Buxar Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya confirmed that Tiwari sent the email in October 2025, claiming he could "remove" the Prime Minister within 22 days.

Preliminary interrogations suggest that the suspect’s primary motivation was financial gain driven by his state of unemployment. Tiwari reportedly admitted to investigators that he hoped to secure a large sum of money from the American intelligence agency by offering to compromise the security of the Indian head of state. While the threat was deemed a desperate attempt at extortion rather than an organized conspiracy, the severity of the claim triggered an immediate response from national security and local law enforcement agencies. Authorities are currently tracing the digital trail of the communications to determine if any other encrypted platforms were used.

Investigations have further revealed that Tiwari is a repeat offender with a history of making high-profile threats. In 2022, he was detained during a joint operation by Kolkata and Buxar police for sending a hoax email threatening to blow up the Kolkata airport. In the current case, two other individuals have been taken into custody alongside Tiwari for questioning to ascertain if they provided logistical support or were aware of his activities. Despite his inconsistent statements during interrogation, Tiwari has consistently maintained that his ultimate goal was to earn money through the exchange of "confidential information."

A forensic team is currently scrutinizing the seized electronic devices to check for links to any extremist organizations or wider networks. While the family members and close associates of the suspect have been interrogated, police officials stated that no direct evidence of their involvement in the crime has been found so far. The suspect remains in custody as the investigation continues into the potential breach of national security protocols. Law enforcement has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward threats against government officials, emphasizing that even hoax threats are treated with the highest level of judicial seriousness.
