During a weekly press briefing this Friday (April 10, 2026), Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described the current situation in Lebanon as "extremely alarming."

He emphasized that as a major troop contributor to the UN Peacekeeping Force (UNIFIL), India is closely monitoring the safety of its personnel and the local population. Jaiswal reiterated that it is imperative for all parties to adhere to international humanitarian laws and respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations. This statement comes amidst reports of hundreds of civilian deaths in Beirut and southern Lebanon, following a wave of unprecedented strikes. India called for an immediate de-escalation of the conflict to prevent further loss of innocent lives in the volatile region.
