In a series of radio broadcasts, Tehran explicitly stated that any vessel attempting to pass through this strategic waterway without permission would be "immediately destroyed." This aggressive stance has created a standstill in the region, with many ships reportedly halting their journey amid fears of escalation.

This development comes despite U.S. President Donald Trump's recent announcement of a two-week conditional ceasefire. Trump’s primary condition for the truce was the immediate and safe reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for international shipping. However, Iran’s latest military directive suggests a firm grip on the waterway, defying the spirit of the ceasefire. As the Strait of Hormuz accounts for nearly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply, the current tension—marked by active fighter jet patrols—threatens to destabilize global energy markets and essential commodity trade.
