Speaking at a Pentagon briefing on Wednesday, Hegseth clarified that under the terms of the ceasefire, Iran has agreed to allow the free movement of vessels through the vital waterway. "We aren't going anywhere," Hegseth stated, emphasizing that while troops will remain in their current positions, they stay fully alert and ready to react at a moment's notice if necessary.

Hegseth further highlighted that the Iranian government was left with no choice but to negotiate following significant losses of its senior leadership and military infrastructure due to U.S. and Israeli strikes. He claimed that the U.S. neutralized one of the world's largest military forces using only 10% of its combat power in less than 40 days. According to the Defense Secretary, this agreement effectively ensures that Iran will never obtain nuclear weapons, as the recent operations proved Tehran's inability to defend itself against coordinated strategic strikes.
