The measures primarily include travel bans and asset freezes targeting specific individuals and entities involved in human rights abuses. Furthermore, the EU maintains a strict ban on the export of equipment that could be utilized for internal repression or telecommunications monitoring within Iran.

Under these regulations, EU citizens and corporate entities are strictly prohibited from providing any funds or economic resources to the 262 individuals and 53 organizations currently on the sanctions list. Since the initial implementation of this framework in 2011, the European Union has consistently renewed these sanctions annually as part of its commitment to addressing human rights concerns in Iran.
