Chemical Leak Fears in Beersheba Following Iranian Strikes on Israeli Industrial Zone
Authorities have issued urgent warnings to residents, advising them to stay indoors and seal windows due to the potential leakage of hazardous chemical substances.
The targeted area is home to 19 major facilities, including bromide and pharmaceutical plants, as well as Israel’s primary hazardous waste disposal center. While military censorship has withheld the specific names of the damaged factories, the impact is significant enough to cause the closure of a major highway linking central Israel to the south. Currently, emergency teams are focused on three critical tasks: containing environmental contamination, cooling sites to prevent chemical discharge, and extinguishing fires. This escalation highlights a direct threat to both industrial and military infrastructure in the Negev region.
