Interim President Delcy Rodríguez confirmed this Friday (March 27, 2026) that all schools and government ministries will remain closed from Monday through Friday of the upcoming Holy Week.

This emergency "power-saving plan" aims to alleviate the immense strain on the national grid caused by surging demand for cooling amid extreme temperatures. Venezuela’s infrastructure has been under significant pressure since the capture of former President Nicolás Maduro by US forces on January 3rd. With hydroelectric dams reaching critical levels due to the dry season, the interim administration is resorting to drastic rationing measures. While the nation comes to a near-standstill, essential services such as healthcare and emergency response will continue to operate.
