This directive, issued following a high-level security meeting on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, aims to maximize damage to Iran’s military infrastructure and defense industry before any formal diplomatic "off-ramp" is established.

According to a report by the New York Times, the Israeli government was "alarmed" after obtaining a copy of the White House’s 15-point peace proposal. Israeli officials argue the plan fails to adequately address Iran’s long-term nuclear ambitions and ballistic missile programs. By ordering a 48-hour surge in operations, Netanyahu seeks to neutralize as many strategic targets as possible—including missile production sites and naval outposts—to ensure that any future agreement is signed from a position of absolute Israeli dominance.

The conflict, which began on February 28 with the joint U.S.-Israel "Operation Epic Fury," has already resulted in the death of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and over 1,400 individuals within Iran. While President Trump has signaled that Iran is "desperate for a deal," Tel Aviv remains wary that a premature end to hostilities could allow the Iranian regime to reconstitute its threat.
