According to a report by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), millions have been forced to flee their homes since the airstrikes commenced on February 28. The estimation is based on preliminary assessments of displaced families across the country, particularly in the central regions of Tehran, where the destruction of infrastructure has been most severe.

In an official statement, the UNHCR warned that the number of displaced individuals is likely to rise as the conflict intensifies, signaling an alarming deterioration in the humanitarian situation. The agency emphasized that the narrowing of humanitarian space is making it increasingly difficult to provide aid to those in need. The military offensive, aimed at neutralizing Iran’s strategic capabilities, has met with fierce resistance, with Tehran launching retaliatory missile strikes toward Israel.

The conflict has now transcended national borders, affecting at least 14 countries across the Middle East. Iran has targeted U.S. bases and interests in several Arab nations, retaliating against the joint strikes. This regional escalation has not only displaced millions but also pushed the entire region toward the brink of a larger-scale war. As families continue to flee their homes amid crumbling buildings and falling missiles, the international community faces a growing challenge to contain the fallout of this escalating crisis.
