In a statement released on Monday, March 9, 2026, the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation’s Economic and Cyber Crimes Prevention Department confirmed that the arrests were part of an intensified crackdown on digital misuse. The authorities noted that these individuals were systematically creating content designed to "incite public opinion" and "spread panic" regarding the ongoing regional military developments involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.

Specifically, the arrests targeted those who filmed and broadcasted footage of missile interceptions and field developments, often accompanied by unverified rumors or malicious commentary. This follows a previous wave of arrests on March 5, where 194 individuals were detained for similar offenses. Qatari security officials emphasized a zero-tolerance policy toward any digital activity that undermines public security or questions the management of the current state of emergency. The Ministry of Interior has urged all residents and citizens to obtain news exclusively from approved official sources and warned that filming or sharing sensitive military developments is a direct violation of the state's cybercrime laws.

The crackdown comes as the Gulf region remains on high alert following repeated Iranian drone and missile threats. While the nationalities of the 313 detainees have not been fully disclosed, the Ministry reiterated that legal and administrative measures are being taken against each individual. By taking these swift actions, the Qatari government aims to maintain domestic stability and prevent the spread of "psychological warfare" tactics that could destabilize the nation's social fabric during this volatile period.
