The Saudi Civil Defense confirmed that the attack resulted in at least two fatalities—one Bangladeshi and one Indian national—while 12 others sustained injuries. The missile reportedly struck a residential compound in Al-Kharj, located approximately 80 kilometers southeast of Riyadh.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the strike, stating they targeted several radar systems across Saudi Arabia. This move follows Tehran's vow of "severe revenge" after the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint US-Israeli operation on February 28. The conflict has now transcended borders, directly affecting foreign expatriates working in the Gulf.

The ongoing war has taken a perilous turn as Iran continues to strike US military assets and allied nations across the region. In addition to this missile strike, recent drone attacks have targeted the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia and the US Consulate in the UAE. The death of innocent civilians in residential areas has sparked global concern, signaling that the proxy war is rapidly turning into a direct regional confrontation.
