On Sunday (March 8), council members Ahmad Alamolhoda and Mohsen Haidari confirmed that the 88-member body reached a consensus on the most qualified candidate, adhering to the strategic guidelines left by the late leader. While the selection process is complete, the individual’s identity has not yet been publicly revealed, as the Assembly’s secretariat is currently finalizing the official announcement protocols.

According to state-linked news agencies Mehr and ISNA, the Council emphasized choosing a successor who stands firm against external adversaries, particularly those viewed as enemies by the Islamic Republic. This development follows recent remarks by US President Donald Trump regarding potential candidates like Mojtaba Khamenei. Meanwhile, Israel has issued a stern warning, stating it will target whoever ascends to the position of Supreme Leader. As the Middle East remains on high alert, all eyes are on Tehran for the formal unveiling of its new leadership.
