Mediated by Oman, the talks held on Thursday (February 26) have been described as an effort to explore "new and creative solutions" to the long-standing nuclear impasse.

The meeting comes shortly after US President Donald Trump emphasized "diplomatic solutions" in his State of the Union address, despite maintaining a tough stance. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated that while Tehran remains committed to never developing nuclear weapons, it will not surrender its right to peaceful nuclear technology. As some nations advise their citizens to leave Iran due to fears of a potential US strike, this diplomatic engagement in Geneva serves as a crucial window for de-escalation in the region.
