US Massive Military Buildup in Middle East: Over 300 Warplanes Deployed
According to open-source intelligence (OSINT) and reports released on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) now oversees a fleet of more than 300 advanced military aircraft. This massive mobilization is concentrated at key strategic hubs, including Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, and Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia, as well as on two major aircraft carriers: the USS Abraham Lincoln and the USS Gerald R. Ford.
This buildup features a heavy emphasis on offensive capabilities, with approximately 70% of the fleet consisting of strike-oriented fighter jets. Key assets include a dozen F-22 Raptor stealth fighters recently deployed to Israel’s Ovda Airbase, along with significant numbers of F-35A/C Lightning IIs, F-15E Strike Eagles, and F-16C Fighting Falcons. To support sustained, long-range operations, the U.S. has also positioned roughly 75 strategic tankers, such as the KC-46 and KC-135, which are vital for mid-air refueling during potential multi-day strike missions.
The remaining 30% of the air fleet is composed of specialized support and electronic warfare aircraft, including EA-18G Growlers for radar jamming and E-3 Sentry AWACS for early warning and battlefield management. Additionally, the U.S. has rapidly transported Patriot and THAAD missile defense systems to the region via hundreds of cargo flights since January. Military analysts view this unprecedented concentration of force—combined with the arrival of the USS Gerald R. Ford in the Mediterranean en route to the Persian Gulf—ুas a clear signal of "maximum pressure" directed at Iran amid stalled nuclear negotiations and rising regional tensions.
