Trump Enforces 10% Import Tariff Despite US Supreme Court Ruling
The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed that while there were talks of a 15% rate, the finalized additional duty has been set at 10%.
Last Friday, the Supreme Court declared Trump's previous tariff attempts illegal, stating he lacked the authority under the 1977 Economic Powers Act. However, President Trump bypassed the ruling by invoking Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, which allows the President to impose tariffs for up to 150 days without Congressional approval. This move signals a continuation of Trump’s aggressive "America First" trade agenda, sparking concerns over a potential global trade war.
