India Seeks Stronger, Friendly Ties with Dhaka: Jaiswal
He noted that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Bangladesh’s newly elected Prime Minister Tarique Rahman following his electoral victory. Subsequently, Om Birla attended the swearing-in ceremony and delivered a letter from Modi expressing India’s support for a democratic, development-oriented, and inclusive Bangladesh.
Jaiswal added that New Delhi aims to expand cooperation with Dhaka in trade, diplomacy, and other sectors, building on the longstanding historical ties between the two nations.
Addressing visa operations, he said India will hold discussions with the Bangladesh government to resolve related issues gradually.
Meanwhile, visa activities between the two countries have begun regaining momentum after the BNP-led government assumed office. The Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi started issuing visas to Indian nationals from Friday.
Earlier, Indian Assistant High Commissioner Aniruddha Das stated in Sylhet that all categories of Indian visa services would soon return to normal operations.
