British Couple Sentenced to 10 Years in Iran
The couple was arrested on January 3 last year while traveling through Iran on a global motorcycle tour. Tehran accused them of gathering information at various locations. They have now been detained for over 13 months.
British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper strongly condemned the sentence, stating, “We will continue to press the Iranian government relentlessly until Craig and Lindsey Foreman are safely returned to the UK and reunited with their family.”
Their son, Joe Bennett, said that during their three-hour trial on October 27, they were not allowed to present a defense and that no evidence supported the espionage charges. He expressed deep concern over their welfare and the lack of transparency in the judicial process.
Meanwhile, the Iranian embassy in London did not respond to requests for comment on the sentence.
