Khamenei Issues Strong Warning to Trump Amid Geneva Talks
Khamenei questioned Washington’s claims of unrivaled military supremacy, suggesting that even powerful forces can face crippling setbacks. Referring to the U.S. naval presence near Iran, he implied that while warships pose threats, countermeasures capable of neutralizing them also exist. Citing Trump’s past remarks, he argued that despite decades of pressure, the Islamic Republic has endured and will continue to do so.
Meanwhile, the United States has reinforced its military presence in the Persian Gulf. Satellite imagery confirmed the presence of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln near Iranian waters, while the world’s largest carrier, USS Gerald R. Ford, is reportedly being deployed to the region. In response, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has launched military drills in the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. delegation in Geneva includes Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Iran’s team is led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, who stated that Tehran seeks a fair agreement but will not bow to threats. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the negotiations as challenging but did not rule out the possibility of a diplomatic breakthrough.
