According to Anadolu Agency and Middle East Monitor, Trump told Axios on Tuesday (February 10), “There is an armada going there, and another one could follow,” confirming he is “thinking” about additional deployment.

A US official said internal discussions are underway regarding the second strike group, which would join the USS Abraham Lincoln currently stationed in the region.

Referring to last June’s US strike on Iran, Trump said either a deal will be reached or strong action will be taken. He expects a second round of talks with Iranian officials next week and claims Tehran is now engaging more seriously in the negotiations.

Trump added that reaching a “great deal” with Iran—including its nuclear program and ballistic missile capabilities—would be very feasible. He expressed optimism that the US can finalize a new agreement with Iran.

Notably, a meeting facilitated by Oman last Friday resumed nuclear talks between the US and Iran after nearly eight months of hiatus. Preparations are underway for the next round of negotiations.
