The primary objective behind this move is to intensify monitoring in conflict-prone areas like Yemen and Sudan. This development aligns with the Trump administration’s current approach of streamlining defense exports to its oil-rich Middle Eastern allies.

The Kingdom is specifically interested in the 'V-BAT' model. Driven by an AI system known as 'Hivemind,' this drone can operate autonomously for 13 hours without relying on human pilots or GPS. Its ability to launch from naval ships makes it a versatile asset for maritime missions.

This technological push comes amid rising tactical competition with the UAE in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea. The friction between the two nations was recently highlighted by a Saudi strike on an Emirati arms shipment at a Yemeni port last December, making such advanced surveillance tools a top priority for Riyadh.
