The Mechanism of Deception: The investigation highlights that labor recruiters and middlemen lure unsuspecting individuals with promises of high-paying civilian jobs. Upon arrival in Russia, they are forced to sign documents written in Russian, which later turn out to be enlistment contracts for the military. One victim recounted that when he protested, he was told bluntly by a commander via a translation app: "Your agent sold you to us; you are now Russian property."

Ordeals on the Battlefield: Many were falsely assured they would serve in non-combat roles, like electronic warfare units or maintenance. However, by early 2025, they found themselves deployed to high-risk zones like Avdiivka. Refusal to comply resulted in brutal consequences, including physical assault with shovels, being handcuffed, or being detained in cramped basements without food.

A Global Crisis of Exploitation: The plight extends beyond Bangladesh, affecting citizens from India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and several African nations. Families back home are living in constant fear, with some receiving final, desperate calls from loved ones begging for prayers. This investigation underscores a grim reality where the dream of a better life has been systematically traded for forced participation in a foreign war.
