Mid-Air Bomb Scare: IndiGo Delhi-Bagdogra Flight Makes Emergency Landing
According to Lucknow airport authorities, the threat was discovered when a passenger found a handwritten note on a tissue paper inside the aircraft's lavatory. The note simply stated, "There's a bomb on the plane."
Upon being alerted, the pilot immediately contacted Air Traffic Control (ATC). The alert was received at approximately 8:46 AM, and the flight landed safely in Lucknow at 9:17 AM. Following established security protocols, the aircraft was immediately taxiied to an isolation bay.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Verma confirmed that all passengers were safely evacuated. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and CISF personnel conducted a thorough search of the cabin and luggage. Security agencies also monitored a package containing cancer medicine (radioactive material) in the cargo, which was being transported with a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC).
In a statement, an IndiGo spokesperson emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew is their topmost priority. The airline is cooperating fully with the authorities while providing refreshments and updates to the stranded passengers. While the threat is currently suspected to be a hoax, investigations are ongoing to identify the person responsible for the note.
