According to operators, the influx of millions of pilgrims to Makkah and Madinah during Ramadan causes a significant surge in transportation and accommodation costs. Currently, bus-based Umrah packages start at approximately AED 1,200, but are expected to rise to AED 1,400 within days. As Ramadan approaches, these prices are projected to exceed AED 2,000.

Air travel packages are seeing an even steeper hike. While current flight-inclusive packages start around AED 3,500, they are expected to reach between AED 5,200 and AED 8,000 during Ramadan. Prices typically peak during the last ten days of the Holy Month.

Industry analysis indicates that while airfares remain relatively stable, the primary driver for the price hike is hotel rates. Accommodations within walking distance of Masjid al-Haram are expected to double in price during Ramadan and potentially triple during the final ten nights.

Critical Visa Deadlines for 2026 Pilgrims must also be mindful of the strict deadlines set by Saudi authorities for the 2026 season:

Visa Application Deadline: Applications for Umrah visas will close after March 17, 2026.

Final Entry Date: All Umrah pilgrims must enter Saudi Arabia by April 2, 2026.

Mandatory Departure: All pilgrims must leave the Kingdom by April 18, 2026, as Makkah begins preparations for the Hajj season.

Travel experts advise planning well in advance to secure both visas and affordable rates before the seasonal rush begins.
