Khamenei Blames Trump for Casualties in Iran Protests, Calls it a ‘US Conspiracy’
The protests, which have faced a deadly crackdown according to international rights groups, have seen significant casualties. Khamenei, however, shifted the blame entirely onto the White House. "We hold the American president guilty for the casualties, damages, and accusations he has levelled against the Iranian nation," he told his supporters.
The Supreme Leader further asserted that the ultimate goal of the United States is to regain total control over Iran. "America’s goal is to swallow Iran... the goal is to put Iran back under military, political, and economic domination," he added.
Tensions between Tehran and Washington have escalated sharply since the beginning of 2026. While the Iranian leadership attributes the internal turmoil to foreign interference, global human rights organizations continue to criticize the government's heavy-handed response to dissent. This latest statement from Khamenei is expected to further strain the volatile diplomatic relations between the two nations.
