12 Dead After Crane Falls on Moving Train in Thailand
The accident occurred on Wednesday morning at around 9 a.m. local time, as the train was traveling from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani, passing through Sikhio District in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. According to eyewitnesses, the crane, used in a nearby construction project, suddenly collapsed directly onto the train.
Police and local authorities reported that at least 12 people have died so far. However, as rescue operations are ongoing, the death toll may rise.
Local media reported that around 40 passengers were injured in the accident, several of them seriously. The total number of passengers on board the train has not yet been confirmed.
The Public Relations Department of Nakhon Ratchasima Province stated that the fire on the train has been brought under control. Rescue teams are currently working to locate any passengers who may still be trapped in the wreckage.
