On Sunday, January 11, Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, that "no more oil or money" would go to Cuba. He urged the country to make a deal "before it is too late."

According to the news agency AFP, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel responded to this threat by stating that no one can dictate what Cuba should do. He noted that the United States has long imposed harsh economic sanctions on Cuba, which have intensified recently.

In a recent operation by U.S. special forces, Maduro and his wife were detained. Dozens of security personnel were killed during that operation, many of whom were Cuban nationals. Trump claims that the United States is currently controlling Venezuela’s vital oil sector through a naval blockade.

He further warned that Cuba has long been dependent on oil and money from Venezuela in exchange for providing security assistance to the previous two administrations. However, he asserted that this assistance will no longer continue.
