A Woman in Hijab Will Become India's Prime Minister: Asaduddin Owaisi

Addressing an election rally in Solapur, Maharashtra, on Friday, Owaisi drew a sharp contrast between the constitutions of India and Pakistan. “The Pakistani Constitution mandates that only a person of a specific religion can become the Prime Minister or President. However, the Indian Constitution, drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, clearly states that any citizen can become the Prime Minister, a Chief Minister, or a Mayor,” Owaisi stated.

The AIMIM leader expressed firm confidence in the future, saying, “By the grace of the Almighty, a day will come—long after I and the current generation are gone—when a hijab-wearing woman becomes the Prime Minister of India. I am certain that day will arrive. The hatred you [BJP] are spreading against Muslims will not last forever.”

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dismissed Owaisi’s remarks as "irresponsible." Party spokespersons claimed Owaisi was presenting a "half-truth," arguing that many Muslim women in India do not support the practice of wearing a hijab.
