Legal Battle Intensifies as Promoter Files 20-Lakh Defamation Case Against Mimi Chakraborty
Shastri, who was recently released on bail after spending over a week in custody, initiated the legal proceedings immediately following his release, which coincidentally fell on the actress's birthday.
The dispute stems from an event held last month where Mimi Chakraborty alleged that Shastri misbehaved with her and harassed her into leaving the stage prematurely. Based on her complaint, police had arrested Shastri under non-bailable sections. However, Shastri presents a different version of events, claiming that Mimi arrived two hours late—at 11:00 PM instead of the scheduled 9:00 PM. He maintains that when he was forced to stop the show at midnight due to police regulations, the actress became enraged and falsely accused him to deflect blame.
Vowing to fight for his reputation, Shastri has sent a formal legal notice demanding 20 lakh rupees for public defamation and the return of the 2.65 lakh rupees paid to her as performance fees. While Mimi had previously stated she would "never compromise with injustice," she has yet to issue a formal response to this new legal challenge. This case has sparked a heated debate within the industry regarding the professional conduct of celebrities and the security of local event organizers.
