Gold and Silver Prices Surge Again in Bangladesh Market
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of 22-carat gold by 2,216 BDT per bhori, setting the new price at 244,711 BDT. Simultaneously, the price of silver has also risen by 117 BDT per bhori. According to a press release issued by BAJUS on Thursday, May 7, 2026, these new rates have been effective since 10:00 AM today. The association explained that the adjustment was necessary due to the rising price of pure gold and silver in the local market, reflecting the overall volatile economic situation. Under the new pricing structure, 21-carat gold will now be sold at 233,572 BDT per bhori, while 18-carat gold is priced at 200,213 BDT. Additionally, the price of gold per bhori using traditional methods has been fixed at 163,063 BDT.
The price hike has extended to silver as well, with 22-carat silver now standing at 5,774 BDT per bhori. Furthermore, 21-carat silver is priced at 5,540 BDT, and 18-carat silver has reached 4,724 BDT. This marks the second consecutive increase in gold prices, following a previous hike last Wednesday. Market analysts attribute this continuous upward trend to the ongoing instability in both international and local gold markets. As prices continue to reach record highs, buyers and investors are closely monitoring the situation, while the jewelry industry adjusts to the shifting dynamics of precious metal costs in the country.
