Remittance Surge: Bangladesh Receives $506 Million in First Four Days of February
Data from Bangladesh Bank reveals a sharp increase compared to the same period last year, when the inflow was $422 million. This reflects a year-on-year monthly growth of 19.8% as of February 4.
Arif Hossain Khan, Executive Director and Spokesperson of Bangladesh Bank, highlighted that the growth trend is consistent across the current fiscal year. From July 2025 to February 4, 2026, total remittance reached $19.93 billion, marking a 21.7% growth compared to the $16.38 billion received during the same period in the previous fiscal year.
Furthermore, the month of January 2026 saw a record-breaking inflow of $3.17 billion, equivalent to roughly 38,674 crore BDT. Experts attribute this steady rise to the increasing preference for formal banking channels by expatriates for sending their hard-earned money home.
